Senior Desktop Engineer (Mac/ iOS)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Desktop Engineer, experienced in Mac/iOS, to drive the optimization and scalability of our client's macOS environment. This role is ideal for a solutions-focused professional with deep expertise in macOS, Jamf Pro, and Microsoft 365. The successful candidate will lead strategic initiatives as a subject matter expert, architect, and manage endpoint solutions, and resolve complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Endpoint Management: Lead lifecycle management of Mac endpoints using Jamf Pro, focusing on automation, standardization, and security.
Jamf Pro Ownership: Architect, configure, and enhance Jamf Pro. Build and manage custom policies, configuration profiles, and deployment packages.
Application Packaging & Deployment: Package, test, and maintain applications for Mac environments. Ensure compliance with licensing and organizational standards.
Automation & Scripting: Automate provisioning, patching, and workflows using Bash, Python, or AppleScript.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Act as the final escalation point for Mac-related technical issues. Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
Security & Compliance: Work with InfoSec to enforce CIS benchmarks and security policies. Manage encryption, device hardening, and compliance reporting.
Cross-Platform Integration: Collaborate with Windows and SaaS teams to integrate macOS with tools like CyberArk, Azure AD, and Active Directory.
Microsoft 365 & SaaS Admin: Support and manage policies in M365 and other SaaS platforms as they relate to macOS.
Lifecycle & Asset Management: Maintain Apple device lifecycle processes, integrating asset tracking and compliance monitoring.
- Documentation & Mentorship: Develop and maintain technical documentation and training for IT staff. Mentor junior engineers.
- Project Leadership: Lead and support IT projects, including system upgrades, new technology rollouts, and endpoint security improvements.
Qualifications:
8+ years of enterprise-level experience managing and supporting macOS environments.
Expert-level proficiency with Jamf Pro, including smart groups, patch management, extension attributes, and custom policies.
Strong knowledge of macOS internals, deployment models, and security frameworks.
Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
Experience with Apple Business Manager, DEP, VPP, and MDM/APNs.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration in cross-platform environments.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
Certifications such as Jamf 300+, ACSP, or CompTIA/ITIL are a strong plus.
